TIMEs ahead…

contemplations on a beach

contemplation on a beach

If you have followed this blog for a while you may already now that time-management (gotta get most out of life, right!?) – is one of my favorite topics. Although it often is; what you would like to achieve in your time – that gets my attention too, and not just the how.

It is more in my interest as your coach, who you are; rather than what you have… do you have the time to look at your future and think ahead or are you – when you have the time ; truly making authentic decisions…fully expressing who you are when you had time, to reflect and listen to your heart.

As I still tried to focus on ‘business’ in this season, I would like to share my views on  WIN/WIN situations, as although you may know how to manage your time – or yourself for that matter…, but without a clear goal or aim… you still may be able to progress and develop even further, than you already have.

Only through focus can we do world class things, – but what to focus on right!?

Well, for your business I would imagine you want success.

But what means success to you?

Does it happen over night?

Can you truly influence it, authentically – without anyone loosing out?

Let me interject and go on a little tangent for a second: As I am currently in an Arabian country I cannot help but mention the conception of time as touched upon in previous articles (Language of the world).

With the Arabian model and time that of the through- time, your future lies ahead a of you and as time passes you will move forward , whether you like it or not and arrive at a hoped for destination.

Whereby the more european approach is that; you may want to distant yourself a little from you current situation and have the future and past in front of you stretching from the left to the right. You can change your position on this timeline, at anytime when you wish, but sometimes the more European approach helps you to grasp and maybe even influence steps that need to happen on the way.

In order to be successful; it takes great energy and focus to move forward, facing all your fears using  and directing your thoughts consciously, not only removing obstacles, but also working through obstacles.

An underlying paradigm to help you with that; is that of the Win/Win situation. The two main driving forces for this to happen are that of courage and consideration…Should you have the longing to get to a win/win situation, just to escape your current situation; it may only prolong the situation that you are in, but expressing understanding and gratitude to your current situation will help you to move forward.

Now, to visualize a little structure to support your efforts ,I scribbled a little diagram  in the sand ; with the two driving forces of courage and consideration, influencing your progress through the 4 quadrants.

It takes great Courage to express who you truly are or what your business stands for, but with that fulfillment, once achieved – success on all realms will follow.

contemplation on a beach

One of my main focuses in this series of business related articles, is to share my observations as to how business thinking in the contemporary world is changing. It is the general re-evaluation of our own paradigm as business owner or customer that changes the economic landscape that we are living in. It is less and less about the products that we sell with particular thought-out strategies or tactics; and it becomes more and more about the value that your business, service or product is offering.

In my business coaching approach, I tend to look at the value that your are offering (not the financial type) to move forward to a win/win situation for your business endeavor. It is that quadrant (4 in the first pic) in the top right corner that you want to move towards with all the courage and consideration that you have:

The aim is a win/win situation where all parties involved equally benefit. Even in business, we don’t have people to loose to increase your gain!? I would like you to view what ever your business is offering; as a contribution, to others and the world at large, that we live in.

You may find yourself in a Quadrant 1 if there is no consideration or courage to build a business up…a loose/loose situation.

As I am sure if you got as far as reading this you may have something to offer, or you just aren’t too sure who may benefit and why… hang in there.

If you are the courageous kind and have charged ahead with your business and strategies and tactics, but you may have lost sight of who you are offering your services and products too- considering how you truly see the benefit, from your target audience’s perspective.

‘Of course I do!’ I hear you say, but have you spend enough thought and consideration!?

The well-lived life is a conscious life… the same could be said for business.

Another situation you could find yourself in, is that other win and you feel you loose, or maybe even that you are winning but there is a loss to be accounted for; for an opposing party (not just your customers, but maybe your partners, colleagues etc), if their situation isn’t considered and you displayed all the courage there is (going in, all guns blazing!?) , you still may not find yourself in the most effective of situations.

Or starting at point zero, nothing is going to happen ( LOOSE/LOOSE) if you do not get some courage together or do not display consideration for your customer, business partner etc…Equally it is possible to have too much consideration for what you may be able to contribute with your business for somebody else’s advances, and you may not quite have the courage to ask your value back and you will find yourself in a Loose/Win situation.

It may be well worth your time to reconsider your business structure and situation to pick some wholes and re-balance, to make your business congruent, effective, solid and possibly lucrative and successful.

Where are you currently in your business developments ?

Keeping INTEGRITY…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

One of the main concerns that is found in business, in order to make it sustainable, lucrative , manageable, enjoyable and allowing for necessary Performance in order to succeed and grow is the notion of integrity.

It happens so to be, that this is also my favorite and most successful topic to coach in; as it is that – what helps you to find your motivation, drive and purpose.

As I m currently focusing on the context of business; it may be surprising that your personal values effect the way that you conduct yourself at work.

That in itself is already an alarming notion as we quite too often see our roles at work as separate as to who we are in our personal life, something we perform …dare I say; pretend to be when we are at work. The make-up for our role and responsibilities in the context of our employment, may seem a little distant to who we feel we truly are.

With integrity and an awareness of our core values and who we really are at all times;  is how we find success, in business and any other arena – with great ease. It is not just with sacrifice that we can be professional or successful.

This is the true joy in life: being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one. Being a FORCE OF NATURE instead of… complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy.

Bernard Shaw

Finding your true nature will help you to harness your motivation and energy to succeed financially, in life and in business.

When you are faced with problems at work, it may seem the right option to please your boss, but solutions that you may find should never impact on your core values. You will find that this is only a short term solution, but eventually harmful to the business and most of all to your reputation, performance and integrity.

When you are faced with problems that could jeopardize  your integrity, it is important to look at all possible options for finding the right solution. Pleasing your boss may not always be the right and only way.

When you find yourself in an assumed position of loss and crisis (let’s say in Business) it is at that time that you have the opportunity to recognize the strength, something much bigger in side you that will you see growing stronger …something you may not have realized before.

It is often through struggle that our karma, and purpose is purified and that we are becoming aware of our strength and rightful place in life.

As we learn, express and honor this very part of ourselves, assuring that our core remains intact; this will bring joy and liberation even in hard times and situations of crisis.

This integrity, recognizing who we really are is often covered by a layer of limiting belief: For Instance a layer of ‘Who we are afraid we are…!’ And therefor authentic action in line with ‘Who you really are!’ is hampered.

It is often in the context of Business that we get caught up in presenting ourselves in a role of ‘Who we pretend we are’ to a potential customer, prospect client etc…in order to present our business, brand, product and so force… ensuring that they buy into it.

This may not be exactly in line with your personal beliefs and experience, but it is what you do for work…probably a common way to do business. And probably a common cause for people to suffer loss of performance, burn out, anxieties, dissatisfaction, internal conflict, reaching for compensation (eg. getting drunk in the pub after work, to wash the stress away…) The list of downfalls could be very long, but I am sure you know what I am talking about!

And you may think; Yeah, that is the hat I am wearing when I am at work… and I leave that behind when I clock out … well you are not, you are in danger of loosing your integrity.

If you disregard the layer of Who you are afraid you are, you may find that people may realize who you really are; before you do. You may be busy making them see what you pretend you are; forgetting what your true wonderful purpose is?

Reputation follows in line with your integrity, willingly or not … this is how people remember you. You must learn to look after your values and maintain your integrity. The most joyful and most simplest of solutions to any crisis situation or issue you may have are that of authentic action. You may not find them if you are too caught up in; Who you pretend you are , or maybe because you are caught up in; Who you are afraid you are? (not capable, not good enough etc).

It’s not our darkness we most fear – but our light.

Let me reassure you, that you are on the right path once you recognized your core values and abilities… these flow with ease: they are relentless and supply you with all the opportunities, synergy, solutions, thorough and authentic actions etc… to see you succeed with a true force of nature.

ANOTHER CYLCE…

sunrise

ANOTHER CYCLE

Summer is upon us, with Solstice tomorrow night, I am sure most of us have noticed a different charge in the air.

Well it is also Supermoon (when the Moon is the closest to planet earth), only a couple of days later.

Solstice; the Cycle of SUMMERTIME starts here;  the longest day and shortest night, and from here- our days are becoming shorter again, until the winter solstice…yep, – before you know it, it’s christmas next.

I took this as inspiration to talk, well write –  once more about my approach to Time-management. Or even more to the point, how to be happier, with the work that you get done in the days and time we have.

Getting a handle on this, I often look with my clients on how they structure their week.

The weekly worksheet that I use throughout coaching programs, focuses on scheduling your priorities rather than prioritizing your schedule. I often coach to increase an understanding of your paradigm, the frame of references that you have, the window through which you view your world

With time –  and it’s management – looked at on a weekly basis, I find quite often that it is important to be aware of a natural flow of energy, throughout our structure of days, weeks, months… our life-time. ( yep, my horticulture-therapy background is coming through with this one.)

A structure that I refer to, may refer loosely to planets or deities, but it is also a re-ocurrent rhythm we spend our time in, just like seasons, nature; cycles, it has been going through for thousands of years… a week, in western europa and beyond.

I start my week on a SUNDAY, as it is also the end of the week – with sun as its ruling planet, it is all about self-expression, reflecting, radiating; on what you have done the previous week, your sense of identity- and looking forward to where you will be.

With MOONDAY as the day of the week where we are establishing context, we start to create relationships … the beginning of it all.

Sure we all have had a blue monday or two, it seems such a long way to travel to the next weekend, quite often with sunday – the only; day just to yourself, today on a Monday, you need to create presence in your current situation, creating context…oh bloody MONDAYS.

Then we have TUESDAY – Mars day , following on from Monday we are more inclined to have a closer look at what we are working on , with … a greater sense of exploration; that should be present. Creating context, but deconstructing space.

Is there anything else?

Followed by good old HUMPDAY, the middle of the week. It’s Woden’s Day – (Middleweek in german, which resonates with me – as I am born and bred in Germany) – WEDNESDAY to most of us. The day where, when connected to our cause – we find great resource and time, for and through, what truly motivates us. Connecting with the source, (deconstructing time) and you will see yourself through to the weekend; recharged and aligned with great synergy.

Now, the most exciting day of the week (well I find; energetically) is Thor’s day; THUNDERDAY in german, good old Thursday (the beginning of the weekend for some).

It is the day where creativity is at its best with great vision and sense for creation, realizing what could happen, what was built up through the previous couple of days.

Then we have Freya’s day, FREEDAY, as they say in german (Freitag),-Friday; the last day of work. Sure, most of us – could finish a little early and enjoy some celebrations; the celebration of a cycle coming to an end, celebrating the work that you have accomplished throughout a busy week.Often marked with an excess of food, drink, people, friends or how ever you celebrate the end of the week; how your fruits of labour manifest themselves.

After a loooong week… a‘quiet one in’, may be on the agenda just as well finding abundance in rest.

Then the glorious SATURNS’DAY , taking a pause, reaching a level of the right understanding, as a result of activities. On Saturday, it’s time to stop; whatever busied yourself throughout the week, now is time to be looking at what you got.

You might find yourself looking for exact shapes, sizes, distances, movements, angles etc.; mentally or physically, in material or abstract; all in order to develop a right understanding.

But now after a domestic, industrial or social Saturday: another day is on the horizon, begging to offer you a platform to express: What else do you know about yourself ?… back to Sunday...; maybe you find yourself expressing, in what ever way or shape and form, you recognize that life is good.

Just you and what you find important … well – so it should be!

And I do distinctively remember, wishing it would always be SUNDAY, (when I was much younger; as teenager, somewhat around 20 years ago), …although I figured by now, that that could get a little boring, overtime.

I feel now that the variety, a well considered week can bring (- if in tune with a natural cycle, and your own priorities, needs and demands), is a much more preferable option…

Do you feel in tune with yourself?

CHANGING COURSE OF DIRECTION …

DSC_0004

To change direction in Life can be really difficult, especially when desires are there but reason or method, maybe a little slow to follow, or the current of habits, still pull you in the same direction …and make it difficult to change, although direction is clear.

This would be a situation where life coaching could be of help, to give you another perspective on your situation and to help you to understand your Paradigm, the very thing through which you view your world. The reality that your daily life provides you with, through the experiences that you may have had and the conditioning it provided. It can become quite difficult to change direction, like being at sea on a stormy and foggy night.

What we perceive and see is who we are or believe to be – our Paradigms, frame of reference are very powerful but they can shift! This may be a deliberate and slow process or for some it may well be an instantaneous experience, triggered by life events or even just a deep engaging conversation.

But HOW? And how do you know WHAT to change? … I hear you ask.

Well, here is a little story that may shed some light on it:

Two Battleships assigned to training squadron had been at sea in heavy weather for several days. I was serving on the lead battleship and was on watch on the bridge as night fell. The visibility was poor with patchy fog, so the captain of the ship remained on the bridge , keeping an eye on all activities.

Shortly after dark, the lookout on the wing of the bridge reported: ”Light, bearing on starboard bow”.

”Is it moving steady astern?”, the captain called out.

Lookout replied, ”Steady, captain,”…which ment we were on collision coures with that ship.

The Captain then called to the signalman, ”Signal that ship: We are on collision course, advise to change course by 20 degrees.”

Back came a signal, ”Advisable for you to change course 20 Degrees.”

The Captain said: ” Send, I am a captain, change course 20 Degrees.” – ”I am a seaman second class, still you had better changed your course 20 Degrees.”

By that time the captain was furious. He spat out, ” Send, I’m a battleship. CHANGE course 20 Degrees.”

Back came the flashing light: ” I’m a lighthouse. ”

We changed Course.

Frank Koch ‘Proceedings’

Now, you may not need to be in stormy weathers or stuck in a fog, but maybe things aren’t so plain sailing. And maybe you don’t feel like you are the captain of your ship at all, but an onlooker or someone who is just sending out messages – on other peoples behalf.

It may be that your subjective reality doesn’t serve you any longer, it may be time – where a fresh look at the objective reality may provide you with the answers you are looking for!?

Maybe take some time, this evening or tomorrow morning, 20 minute half an hour is enough; and IDENTIFY (write down) 3 things that aren’t working for you, where you wish that they would be different.

This could be assumed barriers, habitual behaviour, lack of performance etc…. then try to find an alternative way of reacting in these situations, or how you would like things to be…that would INTERRUPT your current pattern…flip it…instead of asking or waiting for others to change course, what could you do!? And you might find that you’ll create a new situation for yourself, when implemented.

And those 20 minutes taken out to reflect and to take time; on looking at your situation, may provide you with the time and space to consider other options… the light ahead of you – may not be the oncoming train, it could also be the end of the tunnel.

If talking things through would help, to get another angle on the whole situation…

TIME MANAGEMENT – making time for the unexpected …

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Time Managements; as it is a popular Topic in coaching, and it seems to be an increasing need, in order to meet assumed demands, real expectations, workload pressure, aspiration, opportunities, and so on… I’ll make it this weeks topic, to reflect and shed some light upon.

Quite often we construct a routine in order to know what we do and to assure – that we get to do; what must be done! Should I mention the endless lists of things to!?

But this creates boundaries or even a comfort zone, as well as it puts limitations in place, that quite often need to be broken to progress. It is essential to move outside boundaries in order to implement change,to grow and to develop.

Your social circle, may be an example; it is important to mix with other people, than just your immediate friends or close circle of influence. But we all know how stress-full it seems to be, to just find time to yourself and a social life, time hanging out with friends…when other matters seem to be so pressing and win priority.

But what is really important?  What makes you happy and helps you to grow ?

Down-time, seems to some busy bodies such a waste of time, and it often isn’t on the list of priorities, but isn’t it then, when at ease  -with no agenda, hanging out; that we are most alive,  that we find solutions for real life matters, we discuss our dreams and hopes, we have new ideas and learn the most about other people and Life in general.

So one thing to bare in mind, … schedule your priorities, but do not prioritize your schedule …

Motivations, Values and Discoveries ,your Priorities, are  examples of important steps in the process of Life Coaching, and it is my favorite area to look at – throughout sessions. In order to see what time you spend where, in order to nurture certain roles, needs, aspirations and goals –  that you have in Life.

As in social life or any other human interaction it is , or at least should be a desired outcome to get to a WIN/WIN situation. (More on that on another day)

But in a nutshell WIN/WIN is a belief systems, a philosophy even; of the Third Alternative, … It’s not your way, or my way; it’s a better way, a higher way.

To establish that in relation to your paradigm, your priorities, your belief system; can take a while but brings ease and contentment, once achieved – and even more so it will bring you effectiveness and efficiency; that may see you freeing up some time for the things you really enjoy and/or should be doing.

In relation to Time Management, finding ways to obtain WIN/WIN situations – will give you the motivation and drive, to focus on what you are doing.

Whilst you find yourself enjoying the process throughout, seemingly enabling you to be more effective than before, you’ll find in return, you gain time and peace of mind, to let new ideas arise or to pursuit what you thought you didn’t have time for before.

When really,  you struggled unnecessarily,  with firefighting unwanted situations, distracting yourself from what you should be doing, being pre-occupied , hesitant to tackle tasks – because it was a little uncomfortable, creating limiting beliefs etc …or you just didn’t know what to do next, procrastinating into he oblivion.

So all in all, really, – I share this one not so lightly; but when people come to me; asking to be coached in time management  ” …because there is never enough time...” I can’t help myself but think…there is always the same amount of time at any given day, what really needs to happen, is that the person requesting that, needs to learn to manage themselves better.

Having said that, there are still some conceptions to be had on time, and the management of such. I’ll share on more thought on this with you, before I leave you to get on with things …

A tool that is often used in Coaching and by NLP Practitioners is the timeline approach or even timeline therapy. We often determine time passing in an outward fashion with movement or distance. The movement of a hand on the clock or distance traveled,  progress made etc.; but the brain processes the notion of past and future, what is referred to as submodalities-, in pictures, references or memories; ordered with things of the past to the left and future plans to the right – which is a typical approach in western European culture, or described as the anglo-european ”through-time”, with things going from side to side, all in front of you.

A second type is that of the ”in-time” approach, where the timeline stretches from front to back; with the future in front of you and the past behind you, invisible, you would have to turn your head to see it.

‘Through-time’ people will have a good idea of time, sequential, linear, they often are on time, good at keeping appointments, time is money – a business approach. Whereby for ‘in-time’ people, the future is understood as a sequence of  ‘nows’. So the urgency goes out of action, this very minute; as there are plenty more ‘nows’ where those come from.

Most commonly found in arabic countries and quite exasperating, as it is difficult to keep appointments, with time being so flexibility… but with that ( as I have spend – and am looking to spend more time in arabic countries) moments of spare time arise, that allow for new things to arise … and if utilized;  it allows for growth, progress, change and development. But possibly not the most common business approach.

Not to mention that it is possible, to mix and use both ways of managing and understanding time and structuring your life accordingly.

So now, that you spend some time reading this, I would hope you felt you benefited from taking some time out; to widen your horizon or spin your time line, just ponder and reflect; making space for what you didn’t know or might want to learn about.

What would you like to spend more time doing?

What is holding you back?

HAPPY OUTLOOK…

DSC_0283-web

With days getting longer and a sense of new beginnings ahead, as we are approaching summer; an all around  sense of HAPPINESS seems to linger in the air.

This inspired me to pick up the topic of HAPPINESS, as this is something that is to be expected to increase ( in this season and) through Life Coaching, and is generally understood as an indication of progress and things becoming good or being just right.

It certainly is noticeably when we are lacking happiness and our pursuit of an increase in time spend happy is an forever underlying motivation, consciously or not.

But all too often we are confusing two very different things:

PLEASURE AND HAPPINESS …

It is within human nature to seek pleasure but even more so to reach a more constant level of happiness. We all have a customary level of happiness we return to after a level of distress, sadness, depression, grief, exhilaration, excitement etc. and we certainly know pleasure when we experience it, a sensation we are all to keen to repeat.

Quite easily we are mistaken, to see a frenetic rush of pleasure as a final destination or goal, when simply a more constant state of contentment, happiness with an assured sense of self worth, is what we should or are pursuing in adult life.

The acknowledgment of moderation and common sense should over time, growing up, replace an urge for sensual fleeting moments of pleasure , that sometimes could lead to pain and destruction instead.

Happiness that is achieved through short bursts, of maybe physically experienced pleasure is unsustainable, whereby a true sense of happiness comes from – or relates more to the mind and heart.

It is through our state of mind that we can influence emotions, it is our attitude that determines behavior and our general outlook in any given situation.

In fact, whether we are feeling happy or unhappy at any given moment often has very little to do with our absolute conditions, but rather, it is a function of how we perceive our situation, how satisfied we are with what we have.

– Howard C. Cutler

It is possible to increase our sense of life satisfaction by changing our perspective, without having to change the materialistic circumstance, and thus be happier. By utilizing and focusing on existing favorable circumstances , such as health, family unit, achievements in life areas such as hobbies etc. can be contributing factors to a happier life.

This brings a situation of contentment and maybe even self worth ,whereas material possessions can mean not anything in moments of emotional distress, upset etc, whereby a positive outlook can make all the difference.

Momentary pleasures, can also mean nothing if the heart is seeking a path to find ultimate contentment and life satisfaction. To suppress such desires, passions, longing, as well as associated anger, frustration, dissatisfaction and envy, will lead to a unhappier situation, where quite often more destructive, materialistic short term pleasures are used to cover up for the true loss of happiness.

So it is worth asking what makes you happy and was is just a short term fix. It is more important to gain an understanding and determine what makes you happy, what we desire and seek, that isn’t a momentary, fleeting state of pleasure. To see what we are denying ourselves at the loss of a happier life?!

To see and appreciate what we have and what we are and can be, rather than what we deny ourselves and fear not to achieve.

What are you masking with your unfavorable behavior?

What contributing factors in your life can you change, to have a more positive attitude ?

What can you do today to make a difference tomorrow?

FROM THE INSIDE OUT

Mount Sinai at Sunrise

We can’t change Life, but we can change how we live it…it’s principles and laws we cannot break, but we can break ourselves against it.

Hoping to layout the benefits of Life Coaching and demystify the way it works, outcomes , ambitions and much more … with you (as my client) it will be as individual as your hopes and dreams and whatever you want to achieve.

I would like to highlight a benefit of coaching , taking time out to re-evaluate your life situation; a major benefit is the relearning and integration of what we already know, but seldom give the credit it deserves.

Throughout coaching it is the intention to focus on current performance , putting measures into place… probably challenge existing thinking, encourage independent thinking and the articulation of most inner ambitions, dreams and hopes in order to make them a reality.

Throughout that process it quite often unravels itself that we loose touch with our inner guidance and we are all to easily distracted by other peoples expectations, our own assumptions, desires that aren’t our own, influences of peers, situation, limiting belief systems and so on.

I can only try to illustrate this with an experience I have gathered on my travels, a few years back; it was only when cut off from western civilization, walking in challenging terrain (climbing Mount Sinai) I managed to silence my mind and its’ lists of things to do, a  which are often necessary, in order to effectively get through a normal working routine in western culture – but it keeps the mind busy, pre-occupied and quite likely the ego chattering away, which can be very distracting.

As well as problems that I perceived to be insurmountable and praying on my mind for years… , all of that held me back from truly enjoying the situation there and then.

But then… after a while of seemingly endless nothingness, the silence of the mountains, that awe inspiring impression (once I started looking)… how solid they were and they were just there …. and had been there for 1000s of years.

So who was I in all of this?…and how small and insignificant am I and all those thoughts, issues etc running through my head – suddenly another sense of self arrived, giving me the compass I needed to guide myself through the experience on-hand (it was hot, not sure where I was and why…) suddenly it became very clear to me, back then -that the way I perceived the situation was how I experienced it, if I where to let go of things that clouded my mind or burdened my heart, the most challenging situation turns into joy.

NOW I very well know this, an experience known as a Paradigm Shift, which is at the center of successful coaching or any other self-development.

The experiences we have, are always in relation to the References that we have created in our own minds. The References are often based on our own experience or the knowledge and information that we have, got given or chose to believe in.

And quite often this is a program that the subconscious runs, on a daily basis and quite often we aren’t too aware of it.

Taking time out, to engage with your subconscious, will support a change in your perception, and will result in a different experience; of what could well be the same situation, but by turning inwards and looking at how we perceive the situation and allowing ourselves to create different references, the world could be a different place, well… the experience of such certainly will be.

This and other experiences made me the committed Life Coach that I am, now with a broader understanding and tools to support others to recognize their path, mission, purpose … that are truly aligned with convictions, abilities, skills, talents … enabling a truly satisfying LIFE FROM THE INSIDE OUT.

Once you have established this, a happier new future can be found as the energy and motivation will follow, with a perception and realization that all of what you are and dream, is possible to achieve.

No Mountain is to high to climb, if you take it step by step, and don’t forget to enjoy the journey itself.

Would you like to PROGRESS from where you are now?

Just ask yourself:

What am I currently just putting up with?

What can I change today for things to be different tomorrow?

And what exactly is holding you back?

I would gladly take you on this journey of self-improvement and helping you to discover, articulate and eventually live your most inner Dreams.

Contact me for a no cost, no obligation chat over the phone … where could it take you?

LANGUAGE of the world

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

As I am travelling at the moment I feel inspired to touch upon a favorite subject of mine – Communication…

( I hope you have read my post on CREATING SYNERGY?)

As I am travelling at the moment, it struck me – that there is an understanding between people that goes across boarders, ignores languages and cultures and is understood with certainty.

This may be an obvious thing, or maybe you wouldn’t think that that is of any poignancy-but with some contemplation and a little closer look, I think this quite profound and holds many answers for personal development.

Well let me explain my understanding; of what I am referring to as the ‘language of the world’…( thanks to Paul Coelho and his first book ‘The Alchemist’ where he used this terminology, I don’t feel all so alone talking about such thing) …being in a foreign country it may not be so awe inspiring, any more , as we have grown accustomed to travelling and being exposed to different culture and languages ( I am German myself), but instead of growing numb to this development – why not have a closer look at what this is telling us…

Here in Egypt by the Red Sea ,I went horse riding once with a local who lived there all his life, with a family business of raising arabien horses. We went on a quite lengthy horse ride; into the mountains, to visit a well hidden oasis.

On the way I found myself engaged in a political exchange about work and tourism…well, when I wasn’t galloping on the beach feeling incredibly alive and in touch with something beyond the stunning scenery and the horse beneath me.

Only hours later back at the camp, I realized that I had been in the middle of nowhere and that I was able to communicate with someone, who hadn’t been anywhere else, -without a problem, – having learned about similarities and differences through more than just words…

Whilst pondering over that thought, I was approached by one of the camp dogs who didn’t seem to care at all about my nationality and understood that I was content with his presence.Which only reminded me that there is non-verbal communication we  also know all to well ,but often it is more apparent when surrounded by pets, animals or when riding horses for instance. But this very way of communicating – is always present, even when talking to your fellow human, – only we aren’t so aware.

My intentions, my curiosity were clearly understood, even before I  put them into words – there wasn’t even a need to articulate this very intention…it was understood!

Even more interestingly, sitting there – and contemplating and reflecting on experiences in my life, I find answers are being provided around me, – not so much in articulated speech, but answers and response all the same… it occurred to me that it isn’t my Life, that I was contemplating, but Life in general.

Taking a step back  and viewing the situation from a much broader point of view, I find myself much more at ease finding answers to suit my personal quest, all the same. There isn’t much we really need to live somewhere -anywhere.

In order to meet ones’ basic needs, all that is required is food and a place to sleep. That is what I found myself most concerned with – and this need, is widely understood- and pretty much the same where-ever we go.

But in human development, there are other urges – that will occupy us, – knowingly or not.

I am certain there is a level of self- realization we thrive towards, which surprisingly can also be understood by any nationality with out communication and  with cultural differences.

You can tell if someone is content, pleased, at ease, driven, depressed, passionate, excited, happy, at one, irritated, distracted, bored, contemplating , pre-occupied etc… and so can do others .

The language of the world is that very understanding that extends beyond the actual words spoken – in any language.

Helping you to travel in the right direction fulfilling your destiny and passions.

I find myself sitting here – with the sun shining down on me, – knowing that I am pursuing my destiny, although nobody has said so. I feel that I am working towards Life’s purpose…knowing it will be understood by who ever shares that with me – or even if or when not.

We are all humans after all.

Which way are you travelling in? What is your destiny and purpose?
